Freelance beta tester for TechTool Pro (MicroMat, Inc.) and TattleTech products. Received kudos from both companies for the quality of my bug reports.

Software Reviewer
Wrote several software reviews, published in About This Particular Macintosh and on our website, one of which led to the TechTool Pro QA job.

Advanced from Software Tester to added responsibilities of Team Lead and SPoC (Single Point of Contact) for projects. Substantially revised test guidelines to incorporate more relevant test cases and revise/remove obsolete/unproductive cases. Able to work under intense pressure to enable meeting product delivery deadlines.

In charge of all studio repairs, maintenance, and projects. Proactively worked with volunteer staff to identify and eliminate equipment problems and operational inefficiencies. Designed and built many remote interface devices and phono preamps.

 

RESISTANCE REPAIR, Berkeley, California 5/82-1/95

Service Technician
Repaired, reconditioned, and sometimes restored home, semi-pro, and some pro, audio equipment in a shop renown for high quality work. The “go-to” person for subtle problems, FM alignment, and “difficult” equipment. Shop specialist in CD player and reel-to-reel repairs. Improved parts inventory and stocking system to significantly reduce costly stagnant inventory and obsolete parts. Initiated organized “knowledge base” of shop wisdom learned by each technician. Actively contributed to “collegial” work atmosphere, leading to enhanced productivity through free knowledge sharing. Consultant and Volunteer
Southern California liaison. Responsible for timely communications and pick-ups for clients donating equipment to the project.

 

BMUG INC., Berkeley, California 3/87- circa 11/99
Helpline Volunteer and assistant Newsletter editor Assisted BMUG members with Macintosh computer problems in-person, via telephone, and on the BBS. Helped edit Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter 1987 Newsletters (plus an article in the latter). Membership liaison and information resource at several Macintosh festivals/expos.

 

KALX RADIO, University of California, Berkeley 2/80-1/95

  • 2/80-4/81: One of three people in charge of the entire technical operation of the station.
  • 5/81-10/81: Acting Chief Engineer (de facto) and only technical person.
  • 10/81-1/95: Staff Engineer and consultant. Helped rewire several studios. Modified/modernized several mixing consoles for improved operation.

Production Director
Reinvigorated department with fun, entertaining production training, better organization, and reliable stocking of needed supplies. Learned a great deal about motivating volunteers to do work.

Helped fellow staffers as much as possible, especially with equipment dilemmas and technical issues. Extensive musical knowledge covering almost every genré.
